SELF-SERVICE BI: Demand for self-service BI tools expected to grow. Business managers want to gain insight from data independent of their IT department and seek self-service business intelligence (BI) tools, according to a new report. Less than one-quarter of the respondents actually have access to those tools now, however. Self-service BI includes the capabilities of software tools and applications that enable business users to access data, analyze it, visualize insights, and share formatted information in reports and dashboards—all without IT’s help.
